Following a meeting on Friday 6 April 2018 in Casablanca Morocco, between representatives of the Steering Committee of the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) and some of our colleagues from a few of our affiliates, convened by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), it was resolved that: The next Congress of FAJ should be held either December 2018 or early 2019.
Journalists in Central and West Africa call on media to address hate speech and reaffirm ethical standards

Journalists at two regional meetings organised by the Federation of African Journalists and Ethical Journalism Network have called on media to take steps to address the issue of hate speech in media ahead of key elections in the Central and West Africa.
The Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) has called on the authorities of Mozambique to ensure the safety of journalist Ericino de Salema who was abducted in Maputo the capital on Tuesday 27 March 2018, was seriously beaten up and abandoned in the outskirts.

The global information crisis in which journalism is being overwhelmed by the narrow self-interests of political and corporate centres of power is felt strongly in West Africa where hate-speech, fake news and abusive exploitation of information technology are endangering pluralism and democracy.
