FAJ and UNESCO propose an AU Working Group to promote safety of journalists and end to impunity in Africa
The Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Education (UNESCO) have requested the African Union to establish a Working Group to address the safety of journalists and the issue of impunity. This was during the conference on “Promoting the Safety of Journalists and the Campaign against Impunity in Africa” held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 15 November 2017

UNESCO together with the Group of Friends for the Safety of journalists organised an interactive workshop on the establishment of national mechanisms for the safety of journalists on 12 December 2017. The workshop was opened at UNESCO Headquaters by the Director-General, Ms Audrey Azoulay.
FAJ Conference Kicks off on Safety of Journalists and Campaign to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists
The conference organized by the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) on “Promoting the Safety of Journalists and the Campaign against Impunity in Africa” kicked off today in Addis Ababa Ethiopia with the support of IPDC and UNESCO as co-organizers and in liaison with other agencies such as the UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA).
